Product Owner - Protection & Control

Role Overview

As the Product Owner for Protection & Control, you are the primary link between our market, our stakeholders, and our engineering teams. You are responsible for maximizing the value of our distribution and industrial network products by translating complex market needs into clear, actionable requirements. You drive the product roadmap, support continuous improvement, and ensure our solutions align with the broader strategy to power the world more reliably.

Responsibilities

• Define a clear product vision that aligns customer value with technical feasibility and business objectives.
• Translate complex market needs into detailed, actionable requirements for our research and development teams.
• Own the product backlog to ensure the most impactful initiatives are prioritized and delivered.
• Collaborate across engineering, quality, and commercial teams to support effective product delivery and market success.
• Monitor product performance through key metrics and feedback to drive iterative enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
• Substantial experience in product management, systems, or application engineering within power systems, protection and control, or substation automation.
• Deep working knowledge of protection and control relays and digital substation technologies.
• Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to negotiate and present technical visions to diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in dynamic environments, both independently and through quarterly international collaboration.

Desired Expertise

• Comfort navigating Agile methodologies and modern product development lifecycles.
• Familiarity with GE Vernova Grid Automation products or equivalent competitive solutions for Distribution and Industrial sectors.
• Track record of developing or managing applications for the protection and control market.
• Knowledge of industry standards (IEC 61850, IEC 61508, DNP3, Modbus, essential cybersecurity protocols).
• Confidence using mathematical modeling software to inform decision-making.
• Experience contributing to the industry through technical papers, journal articles, or conference presentations.

Location & Working Model

This is a permanent position based in our Bilbao (Spain), Stafford (UK), or Dubai (UAE) office. We offer a hybrid working model, giving you flexibility to work from our offices and from home.
