Principal DevOps Engineer (Azure & Kubernetes)

We are seeking a skilled Principal  DevOps Engineer to enhance DevOps practices by embedding security into every phase of the development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and manage secure CI/CD pipelines, ensure compliance with industry standards, and leverage right tools to build a resilient and secure cloud environment

Responsibilities:

• Manage, maintain, and support AKS-based Big Data platform infrastructure.
• Deploy, administer, and optimize Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
• Manage and support Apache NiFi, Azure Event Hub, and Azure Functions.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments using Terraform, Bicep, and ARM Templates.
• Monitor platform health, performance, and availability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, container, and platform-related issues.
• Perform cluster upgrades, patch management, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
• Implement and enforce platform security, governance, compliance, and access controls.
• Configure and optimize AKS networking, ingress controllers, storage, and autoscaling.
• Manage container images, Azure Container Registry (ACR), and deployment lifecycle.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and platform reliability.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and cross-functional teams to enable and support data platform services.
• Support production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
• Drive infrastructure automation, operational excellence, and continuous platform improvements.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of overall IT experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Cloud Infrastructure Engineering.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes platforms.
• 3+ years of experience supporting enterprise-scale Data Platforms.
• 3+ years of experience in DevOps/SRE practices.
• 2+ years of experience with Azure Data Services.
• Strong expertise in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), including cluster deployment, administration, upgrades, patching, node pool management, autoscaling, RBAC, security hardening, persistent storage, networking, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience managing production AKS environments with high availability and disaster recovery.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes networking, including Services, Ingress, Load Balancers, DNS, Network Policies, Service Mesh (Istio preferred), and CNI architecture.
• Strong knowledge of Azure networking, including VNets, Subnets, Private Endpoints, Peering, NSGs, UDRs, Azure Firewall, and VPN connectivity.
• Expertise in Docker and containerization, including image creation, optimization, multi-stage builds, registry management, security scanning, and container troubleshooting.
• Experience with Azure Container Registry (ACR), image versioning, and governance.
• Strong experience with Azure DevOps, including YAML pipelines, CI/CD, Git repositories, branching strategies, deployment automation, and release management.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, and ARM Templates.
• Experience implementing monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and KQL.
• Experience monitoring and optimizing AKS clusters, pods, and platform performance.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Event Hub, including architecture, namespace management, scaling, security, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience deploying and supporting Azure Functions, including scaling, Managed Identity integration, CI/CD, and monitoring.
• Experience administering Apache NiFi clusters, including deployment, security, performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Understanding of platform security, governance, compliance, and container security best practices.
• Experience with GitOps, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, or multi-region cloud architectures is an advantage.
